About

My name is John C Ricker and I'm the author of this blog, a writer of science fiction, an artist, a photographer, an electrochemist, and a public speaker.

I started this blog because I wanted to share my observations and visualizations.  I have found that my fascination with the future of humankind and the earth is shared by many other very interesting and worthwhile people.  I would have to say Ray Kurzweil has influenced me more than any other thinker and that I wouldn't have become the writer I am today without his inspiration.

My Bio:

I was born in Hawaii in 1982 and moved to Minnesota when I was 9 years old. I studied for 2 years each at Cornel College and Augsburg College.  My studies included physics, biology, computer science, philosophy and psychology.

Before I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at the age of 24, I was misdiagnosed multiple times. Specialists were unable to predict my performance and often found I did not fit their diagnosis.  Tests showed that I was both disabled and very intelligent.

I have experienced being an anomaly in most people’s view of the world.  I consistently break the generalizations that society places on the human mind.  I enjoy showing others my unique perspective of the world through my photography, graphic arts, speaking, humor and writing.

Random fact:

I also enjoy working with parrots and have one of the most difficult blue-fronted Amazons that anyone has ever heard of.  My parrot has left lasting marks all over both of my hands, but my patience with him has paid off and he is a rather good pet now.  My stubborn determination is the only reason I still have this bird.
